PEEVE ››

People who go to England for a week and come back dropping words into conversation that they learned there.

It's quite cold.
Cheers!
Fancy a drink?
Etc...

I'm a d*uchebag who did that. It's amazing how quickly you "pick it up."

I speak like I am from England and I have never been there. I read mostly novels from the UK, watch mostly British movies. I prefer proper English, not the lazy slang version that English has become in the US. No accent however, that would be taking it too far.

You need to go to a foreign country to learn a phrase (not a word) like; It's quite cold? Perhaps you should go to school!

My peeve is all of this "quite" hate. I don't say it to be pretentious. I don't know why it's such a foreign word to some people but I've used it ever since my vocabulary included words apart from "mama" and "hungry".
